November 1st officially means the holiday season is upon us. The weather starts getting chillier, and holiday jingles begin to be played on the radio. To me, the most exciting part of the holiday season is advent calendars. They offer up a little daily surprise and add joy to your day.
This year I decided to give the 24 days of tea advent calendar by David’s Tea a go. Each day I will be testing out the tea of the day and giving my review – providing insight into which winter teas are worth your while and which one’s to skip!
Day 1: Snow Day
I know you’re not supposed to judge a book by it’s cover, or a tea by it’s leaves in this case, but this tea was very pretty to look at! As soon as I opened the tin, I was greeted by tiny little snowflakes and white square flakes. The smell of peppermint was overwhelming – but in a good way. There were chocolate chips present too which made me feel as though I was drinking the liquid version of a peppermint patty. I really liked this tea and would definitely recommend.
Day 2: Jumpy Monkey
The appearance of this tea is rather appealing, but overall it is not my favourite thus far. It has coffee beans and what seems to be caramel chocolate chips in the mix. While I like caramel, I’m not a huge fan of coffee, which is why I don’t love it. That being said, I still drank the whole cup!
Day 3: Genmaicha
I am obsessed with this tea! Ever since coming back from Japan I have been searching for a tea exactly like this. It’s light, fresh, smells great, and is exactly what I needed. I will definitely be picking up a full package of this tea after my 24 days of tea challenge!
Day 4: Organic Serenity Now
Initial thoughts: I like this tea! The tea itself looks like rose petals and smells great. The tea is soothing to drink and is versatile enough to drink during Sunday afternoon tea or late at night while watching TV. Genmachia is still my favourite, but I would definitely drink Serenity Now again.
Day 5: Coffee Cake
I really thought I wasn’t going to like this tea. I was craving Pumpkin Chai or Genmachia again, but was committed to moving through the advent calendar in order. Today’s tea was called ‘Coffee Cake’ and lives up to it’s name. It’s fairly sweet with a splash of coffee flavour. If you really like coffee but don’t want all that caffeine I would recommend this tea. Even if you don’t like coffee, you may still enjoy it – maybe with a side on cookies!
