With Halloween around the corner, creepy movies are popping up everywhere. Who doesn’t love the appeal of darkness that has you jumping out of your seat and wanting more – especially at this time of year. What’s better than new releases is the ability to watch old films with an equal scare factor that keeps your bones chilled.
The following actors have no doubt made an impact on some part of your past with their ability to play characters that haunt with the simple sight of their own faces. It may be the characters they play or their ability to channel their own darkness, these talents will forever be ‘creepy’ both on and off screen.
After a series of equally chilling performances, Mr Hopkins consistently remains to have that creepy factor as a character both on and off screen. Something about those eyes and that not so sincere smile that gives it away every time. Perhaps after seeing him play Hannibal Lector in Silence of the Lambs our brains are conditioned to forever think of him as dark.
This face is pure talent at it’s best – who could ever forget Jack Nicolson’s performance in The Shining? Talk about chilling! Nicolson plays a person slowly turning insane to perfection, it’s no wonder he won an Oscar for it. Those animated eyebrows are unforgettable!
This actress is known for super bold film characters and her performances are next to perfect in each one. Perhaps it is because of the fact that in real life she possesses such a unique look, or because she acts out of pure genius – she’s one heck of a scary actress!
Although Javier Bardem is not the name that comes to mind when you think of the word creepy (quite the opposite in fact) his roles as villains in both Pirates of the Caribbean and Bond have proven that even a sweet face can have a darker side. Unforgettably superb performances that will never have us question his talent.
Helena Bonham Carter
Remember Fight Club? Helena played the raggedy Marla, followed by the insane character in Harry Potter, and the Queen of Hearts in Alice – Helena Bonham Carter has got the creepy factor nailed! If ever I were to cast an insane person or dark woman for a movie – she’s top on my list! Sweet and Salty!
No doubt Steve Buscemi has a unconventional look that pretty much lands him some ‘off the wall’ roles. With hundreds of films under his belt – it’s no doubt he has the ‘crazy eye’ factor that keeps him on the haunted list.
