In order to become the best you, it is imperative that you relax and de-stress. Some people go to the spa, the beach, take a nap, but we build terrariums!
Art is proven to be a form of therapy that encourages creativity and self expression, which leads to reducing stress. So we decided to sit down and make a craft that we could have fun while doing, and help calm us down when we looked at it later on!
What you’ll need:
-Craft Light Bulbs or a Vase
-Sand or pebbles
-Little plastic toy creatures (we used unicorns and dragons!)
-Funnel (we used a coffee filter as a make-shift funnel)
1. Add Sand
First things first, you’re going to pour the sand into your jar. Caution: this gets messy! (we learned this the hard way). If you don’t have a funnel use a coffee filter to help contain the mess so your house doesn’t turn into a sandbox!
2. Add Moss
If your fingers don’t fit through the opening, use a pen or stick to push the desired amount down.
Use different coloured moss for a brighter vibe
3. Add in your creature!
I used a Unicorn for the first one, and a Pegasus and purple dragon for the second. The package says they’re supposed to be good luck so fingers crossed!
4. Add the Twine
Tie the twine around the top of the bulb. You can hang them up on your wall later as decoration.
And Viola—you’re done. This craft is super simple and I love the way they turned out. They helped me de-stress and I feel super accomplished by making something with my own two hands.
There are so many different ways to make terrariums. Show us how you made yours!
