In my opinion, staycations are extremely underrated. Out of town vacations are great, but a night in with your girls can be equally, if not more relaxing.
My friends and I always go out to eat or go to events to hang out – but seriously when’s the last time you had a sleepover with your BFF?! That’s why we jumped at the chance to have a girls night at the luxurious One King West Hotel in the Vista Suite this past weekend.
I’ve had my eye on One King West for years – ever since I saw it was the hotel the contestants from Canada’s Next Top Model stayed at. Along with wanting to pretend to be a contestant on the show, I was also awe-spired by the rich history the hotel is emerged in. The hotel used to be Dominion Bank in the late 1800’s, but was then transformed into a luxury hotel.
We stayed in the Vista Suite, in the newer section of the hotel, and let me just tell you – this was not your average hotel room. The suite, on the 35th floor of the One King West Tower was HUGE, big enough to be a condo or home for a full family. I found myself dreaming about living there myself – I totally envy the boys of The Suite Life Of Zack And Cody.

We were greeted with a lovely cheese plate and champagne – because seriously is it even a girls trip without champagne?
We felt like absolute royalty – especially in our robes. Seriously – the robes were the most comfy things we had ever worn, we never wanted to get out of them.
When we finally decided to get out of our robes – it was seriously really hard to, okay?!, we headed down to dinner at the Teller’s Bar where we were not disappointed by the food. We got a few things to all split, including the french onion soup, edamame, steak and cheesecake and a chocolate dish for dessert. If my stomach wasn’t so full I could’ve eaten so much more!
The rest of the night was filled with laughter and giggles alongside exploring the hotel. We were able to tour the Grand Banking Hall along with the Fifteen Hundred event room. The Grand Banking Hall gave me serious wedding fever, and the Fifteen Hundred made me wish I had a birthday the very next day so I could celebrate there! We were even told that Roxy from The Real Housewives of Toronto just celebrated her birthday there the week before!
We loved how centrally located the hotel was and even went out on the town to meet up with a few friends (although to be honest our room was so nice we never wanted to leave it!). There are so many bars and restaurants in the area, all within a very close walking distance.
Overall, we had the most amazing time at One King West and it was very hard for us to leave. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating and we felt like absolute royalty. Seriously, why bother with trains, planes and the hassles of traveling when you can be a tourist in your own city!
We can’t wait to come back for another girls staycation soon!
