If you’ve been on the internet at all lately, you’ve probably seen, or at least heard of what seems to be the biggest beauty trend of the year – Glossier.
From the creators of IntoTheGloss.com came the beauty line Glossier, with products ranging from lip gloss, highlighters to their newest edition, body wash.
I’ve seen this beauty brand pop up all over my Instagram feed lately and beauty gurus have been raving about it. As a girl who’s not super into make up and loves low maintenance and a natural look (which these products claim to represent) , I wanted to give it a try for myself. Is it really as good as everyone’s saying – is it worth the hype?
For starters, the branding is on point. A modern light pink, white and black exterior packaging is what most of these products come in and their site is super quirky. Plus, they even gave me Glossier stickers and a tote bag with my purchase!
So far, so good!
PRO: I almost prefer that this doesn’t foam, it’s super lightweight but ‘scrubby’ enough that it actually cleans
CON: Honestly, it’s pretty hard to think of a con for this one…
WORTH IT?: Yes, I’ve actually stopped washing my face with hand soap! LOL
PRO: Nice and lightweight texture that didn’t feel too creamy or sticky
CON: Not being a skincare eficinado…what the heck is the difference between a priming moisturizer and a regular face moisturizer? Also, if there’s a difference, why do they only sell a priming one?
WORTH IT?: Yes, super lightweight and absorbs quickly
PRO: AMAZING! I’m so obsessed with this balm it’s not okay. First off, I LOVE vanilla anything so that’s always an added plus. Secondly, I often have dry lips because I wear a lot of matte lipsticks and this balm is the first time (in a long time) that my lips feel rejuvenated and alive! Oh, and, you use so little, it lasts forever!
CON: Nothing. I literally can’t think of a single thing
WORTH IT?: ABSOLUTELY YES! Would definitely recommend
PRO: Not drying after application and great for under eye bags
CON: I’m not sure if I got the wrong colour or it’s just not heavy enough, but I found that while I like it and will continue to use it, it doesn’t perfectly cover all of my blemishes. I have a very red undertone to my skin and the concealer just doesn’t fully cover those pesky pimples when they appear.
WORTH IT?: Maybe. I don’t know if I’ll buy it again, but I’ll definitely use it while it’s here.
PRO: Gives my eyebrows (what little I have) a nice natural brushed look
CON: Even though it’s tinted, it doesn’t exactly lengthen my eyebrows, more just enhances what I have.
WORTH IT?: Yes, but I still have to pair it with my eye brow pencil to still give it some oomph
PRO: Firstly, I love that it’s not cakey which is a nice surprise. I usually avoid blushes because my skintone has so much red, but I like the dusk colour because it’s not too pink/red so it gives me more of a sun-kissed thing rather than a sun-burned thing. The Puff colour is also tres cute, and made my skin look dewey and natural.
CON: It may take a while to figure out exactly how much to apply. The first time I used it, I actually applied way too much and semi looked like a clown. Also, you use your fingers to apply instead of a brush which you may or may not like.
WORTH IT?: For sure! It looks very natural and I sort of love that you can apply it with your fingers, I’m not about to spend lots money on brushes all of a sudden…
PRO: Easy to apply – literally just draw it onto your cheekbones. Lightweight and fun to play with (especially since I had never used highlighter before!). My cheek bones were shining and I loved the way I glimmered in the sun light.
CON: I didn’t like how my foundation rubbed off on the stick after application and felt like I had to apply quite a lot to see a significant difference using the Moonstone colour. I’m not sure how long it will last as the tube isn’t very big, considering the price, but I’ll cherish it for now!
WORTH IT?: Despite the cons – Yes, yes, yes!
PRO: Shiny and glossy, moisturizing
CON: Not ideal for dancing at bars with long hair…it will get stuck in the lip gloss. Also, where are my flavours? I want modern day lipsmackers!
WORTH IT?: Maybe. This depends on how much you want to feel like your childhood self and your desire for glossy lips, but I’ll deff continue using it.
Overall: I was pretty impressed with these products. If you’re going to be spending money on beauty products anyways, you my as well support a company that supports women. Totally worth the hype!
