GRINCHMAS PARTY SHOTS

If you’ve ever loved candy cane or mint chocolate chip ice cream, or ahem, vodka, the following recipe is meant for you and your guests.

Since the latest Grinch movie was released in theatres, we’ve had GREEN FEVER. Soon, we’ll be heading to our local theatre to check it out, but before we do, I think we’re going to invite the girls over for a few holiday-themed party shots.

Cue music, LMFAO ft. Lil Jon- Shots!

OK, so maybe it won’t be that kind of party (cue music, Michael Bublé- Santa Baby) but we did find a holiday-themed shot to go around that is totally Instagram-worthy and literally tastes like Christmas. These Grinchmas shots will do just the trick to help you warm up against the cold and to REALLY get you and your friends into that holiday spirit.

If you’ve ever loved candy cane or mint chocolate chip ice cream, or ahem, vodka, the following recipe is meant for you and your guests. Try serving these at your next holiday mingle and you might be surprised at how many mint chocolate chip skeptics you’ve converted.

Let’s take a look at how to make these Grinchy, minty, ice creamy, cookie-liscious shots of holiday goodness.

Kinda sounds like a perfect treat to leave out for Santa, right?

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED (makes 4 shots)

  • 4 Shot glasses
  • 4 Mini candy canes (whole)
  • 6 Crushed candy cane
  • Simple syrup
  • 2 ounces Vodka (we used Luksusowa)
  • 2 scoops of mint chocolate chip ice cream

Before you prepare the ice cream and alcohol, rim your shot glasses with the crushed candy cane mixture.

You don’t want anyone choking on hard candy when they take their shot so be sure to crush your candy canes finely- almost to a powder. The easiest way to do this is to grind them in a small blender.

In order to make the power stick to the rim of the glasses, you’ll need to create simple syrup (which is any bartender’s secret weapon). In a small bowl, mix a little bit of water with enough sugar to make a thick and sticky syrup

Dip the top of each glass into the crushed candy cane mix and set aside to let dry.

In a blender, mix your vodka and mint chocolate chip ice cream to a frothy consistency. For a stronger taste profile, you could incorporate crème de menthe and crème de cacao. We preferred ours creamier and felt we had enough flavour with the vodka and ice cream alone.

If you have any non-alcoholic guests, skip the vodka and froth up the ice cream with 2 ounces of milk.

Pour directly into each glass.

For the finishing touch, carefully place a mini candy cane on the side of the rim.

Serve immediately.

Seriously, this shot is so delicious, we promise it’ll get any Grinch into the holiday spirit.

Cheers and happy holidays!
