The cold has arrived and the weather outside is getting pretty frightful here in Canada. It’s that time of year to take your entertaining indoors and switch to a winter drink menu.
After trying out a variety of popular winter drinks, we’ve nailed down 3 beautiful cocktail recipes that will get your guests feeling all warm and toasty inside throughout the holiday season. And the key ingredient is THE Signature VSOP French Brandy, Marquis de Villard.
Goodbye for now, vodka & soda. We’re treating our guests with a more warming suggestion.
Some of us here are new to Marquis de Villard and VSOP brandy all together, so I’ll quickly fill you in on the details.
Marquis de Villard is a signature VSOP French brandy that is produced in Charente, France and has been available in Canada since the fifties. It’s perfect for entertaining, gourmet cooking and especially for escaping the Canadian winter cold (brrrrr…..oh la-la, merci!). It can be enjoyed before AND after your meal, neat or with water, over ice or mixed in a cocktail. It’s safe to say, it’s a pretty versatile spirit.
If you give it a sniff on its own, you’ll probably notice hints of baked apples and vanilla, comforting you from head to toe. On the palate, it’s smooth and balanced with a wide range of flavours to delight your taste buds:
- Dark chocolate
- Maple sugar
So, what the heck does VSOP mean? It stands for Very Special/Superior Old Pale. The youngest spirit in the blend must be aged for a minimum of 4 years to be considered a VSOP, so you know when you use Marquis de Villard on its own or in a cocktail, you’re guaranteed quality and lots of flavour.
Now that you’re caught up to speed, let’s take a look at 3 drink Recipes that will make you this winter’s favourite Hostess with the Mostest using Marquis de Villard. We did some taste-testing and ALL of these recipes rock. Our absolute fave was the Marquis Sangria, but we’ll leave it up to you to decide which suits your guests best.
