Every month Annabelle and Melinda sit around the office talking about what they got in their Ipsy bags – so we thought why not share it with everyone else! Here’s what we loved, didn’t like so much, and can’t wait to try again!
This month our bags were almost identical with the exception of one thing
I was excited to see it in my bag this month, I love a good mask and charcoal is on everyone’s radar these days. It claims to draw out impurities and toxins, which my T-zone desperately needs. I tried this out Sunday night and my experience was nothing like the viral videos you see going around of people trying to pull the mask off while being in agony, thank god. It was fairly simple to peel off but I didn’t see any difference after using it.
Will I use it again? Yes
Would I buy it in a store? Meh, probably not.

I haven’t really felt the urge to try lid primer before but after trying the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, I know I’ll be adding it to my daily routine! I’m so guilty of eye-rubbing throughout the day and by the time 5pm hits, my eyeshadow is gone without a trace. I liked how pigmented my eyeshadow colour remained throughout the day and was impressed with how long my dark shadows stayed put throughout the evenings. Late night racoon eyes be gone!
Insider Tip! Dab this under the eyes and brush on some powder to hide tired, dark circles and look way more refreshed- all day long.

I never complain about receiving eye cream. Most of us are in search of that holy grail eye cream that will solve all our eye woes. I have only used this once so I can’t really comment on it’s effectiveness. I have been hesitant to use it daily as it has Echinacea in it and in the past this ingredient has not been kind to me. It is supposed to comfort sensitive skin but in my experience, it just pisses it off. I will try and use it consistently on the weekend and if I come into the office looking like I spent the night crying you will know why.
I’m calling this my “dream cream” from here on. I loved how little I could use to cover my whole eye area and it’s still very light weight. This baby has a ton of vitamins and extracts to keep my eyes refreshed and protected, which is important being that the eye area is very sensitive/damage prone. Did it make my eyes look brighter and less dull? Not really, but maybe I just need a little more sleep 😉
This product was a big no for me from the minute I tried to open it. You really have to yank off the lid, and when I did, I ended up taking the whole top of the lipstick off. I had pink all over the place. Once it was somewhat repaired, I managed to get it on my lips and well, it is not the colour for me. It is very much an 80’s pink, like someone tried to tint a cream concealer with pink acrylic paint and put it into a lipstick tube. I did not look good.
This colour looks great in combination with brown eyeshadow and really makes my blue eyes pop, however, I don’t feel that there’s anything extraordinary about this product – but I’m definitely satisfied. It gives your lips a lot of colour while keeping them hydrated, which is always a plus (I typically reach for matte lipsticks but get annoyed by how drying they are!). Would love it even more if it stayed on a bit longer throughout the day.
This is one of the many products that has been on my makeup wish list for quite a while. It is not available in stores in Canada and I couldn’t justify paying $36 USD plus shipping for a product I knew nothing about. But now thanks to the Ipsy gods I get to try it. I have worn it the past few days and I have to say it is not bad. It is not a full coverage concealer and it isn’t going to carry you from day to night, but in general it is a good concealer; it is what I would call my Saturday concealer. You know those days where you are just running errands but you know if you leave the house with no makeup and in your comfy clothes you will inevitably run into your ex-boyfriend so you need to put a little something on to keep you from looking like a corpse.
I just turned 30 and I’m paying attention to wrinkles and skin health more than ever. I’ve also noticed that certain concealers and foundations are drawing attention to my unwanted lines. Luckily, this was not one of them. I appreciated the amino acid proline, Vitamin E and nourishing oils in combination with something that concealed my skin imperfections. I felt this was a good quality product that lets me be kinder to my skin. I didn’t really notice a difference in my wrinkles but perhaps I need to revisit how much product I apply.
I don’t really have any issues with large pores but I did notice a smoother, more porcelain-like finish to my skin after applying this powder. I do have a lot of imperfections, redness and blemishes (gah, I hate those!) and I found that this blurred and blended them out very nicely. I found it a bit drying and thick but it was great to have on hand throughout the day for little touch ups here and there. I still needed a bit of concealer on my problem areas underneath though.
This is another one of my wish list items so imagine my sheer joy in receiving it this month. People all over Instagram and YouTube swear by it. Sadly, I am not one of them. I was extremely disappointed by it. It left a dull white cast on my face and the powder itself was very chunky and just sat on top of my skin. It may have been the way I applied it, so I am going to give it one more go but if that doesn’t work then in the garbage it goes. I have been using the very finely milled Chanel and Bourjouis powders for the last couple of years and putting this on my face was more like covering my face in sand.
