Throughout history, the Oscars have proven to cater some of the most daring and show stopping moments in history when it comes to fashion choices, and this year is no different. It’s no surprise that 2017 has brought metallic shades to a whole new level – after-all most attendees are in essence ‘super-stars’. With the shimmery hues came colour blocked dresses and a lot of corals and bright spring tones too! What a vast contrast from the years past where patterns and cutouts were all the rage.
If you are watching from your televisions at home or re-runs from last night’s events, get ready to buckle down – because everyone is a fashion critic these days. Here are a few of our favourite show-stopping best and worst celebrities gracing the red-carpet at the Oscars 2017!
Here are a few that we LOVED:
Taraji P. Henson
This lady rocked her look, mimicking the Oscar trophy itself. A perfect metallic gold dress to compliment her golden hues and dark set makeup. The only accessory missing is one to adorn her bare arms, although she will soon have them full with a golden boy or two.
Love it or hate it, this dress is romantic and ever so pretty. Not the traditional type of dress you would see at an evening awards ceremony, but certainly a dress that is no doubt perfect for this beauty. Absolutely love the outside of the box creativity and elegance of this!
What can we say – this look is absolutely flawless! Harris stuns in a Calvin Klein strapless gown, perfectly straightened black hair, and yellow heels encrusted with gems. The Moonlight star glowed in the modern and trendy sequinned number, both on and off the red carpet.
The ones that didn’t make the list:
We all cringed a little as we watched the gorgeous Scarlett walk the red carpet baring a summer dress and casual belt didn’t we? Ouch! This normally sexy starlet has made us think twice about her status in hollywood.
One actress that stole the spotlight this year (not in a good way!) is Halle Berry in her Versace gown and head of tousled curls. People are just not sure what to think of this look, but we’re sure it will be mentioned on Fashion Police.
