The Pantone Colour Institute announced earlier this year that the coveted colour of 2017 is PANTONE 15-0343 Greenery, which is described as “a fresh and zesty yellow green shade that evokes the first days of spring”. The hue is very much that, a natural shade that is very close to a bright, leafy green. Some people love it, while others are mixed about it. I am definitely at the beginning stages of introducing this shade into my wardrobe, but with that being said, it’s not impossible to do. Below I will be sharing some tips on how anyone can incorporate 2017’s Pantone Colour of the year into your wardrobe.
Neutrals have always been my go-to. They can be mixed and matched seamlessly and compliment everyone. I do, however, love a pop of colour and the best way to introduce a shade that you don’t normally wear on a day-to-day basis is by mixing it in with neutrals. This can be done with accessories. Think a beautiful scarf or a statement bag. The juxtaposition of Greenery works well off of neutrals. (Ps. anyone remember this scene from Confessions of a Shopaholic– ‘The Girl in the Green Scarf’. A great example that green can really make your features pop).
As with any change, I would always start small especially if you’re not the daring type. Another tip to introduce Greenery is through your makeup routine; after all, make-up is all about being bold! Through eye shadow, you can apply shades of this year’s colour to the inner corners of your eyes with a darker shade of green on your lid or by dabbing it on your lips and mixing it with a lip balm to create a sheer, lip tint!
For those us that are shoe lovers, why not add a pop of Greenery to your wardrobe through your shoes. It’s a great addition to any outfit if you want to make a subtle statement while staying on trend. Love these ones (found here).
When it doubt, keep it simple. For instance, if you love wearing classic neutral pieces change up your colour palette by adding different shades of green to your look. These can be paired with other items that are slightly muted in colour or texture. An oversized knit sweater in Greenery would compliment a pair of fitted distressed denim and slides. Add a statement bag in a darker shade of green as a final touch to your overall look!
