If adventure is what you seek this summer then look no further than your own imagination. Yes, most activities and thrills require an abundance of cash to leisurely partake in them but this summer think outside the box and embark on an adventure all your own. Who knows, you may enjoy having a little extra dough in your pocket and truly amazing Instagram photos to prove your summer was the best summer yet – on the cheap!
Your Feet Were Meant For Walking
Believe it or not, there are tons of trails that can be found close to your very own community. Many of which are free to walk and many of them have gorgeous views overlooking water, mountains and valleys. Strap on the old running shoes, pack a backpack full of snacks, water and a little lunch and off you go on an adventure just outside your doorstep!
Tour The City
Pretend for a day that you are a tourist in your own city, walk the streets, taste the foods and try your hardest to appreciate all of the sights and sounds that surround you. Seems you don’t have to travel very far to fully embrace your own city from the outside looking in. This adventure costs close to nothing, but will gain you so much experience at the end of the day – who knows you may come across a hidden gem or two that you never knew existed.
Scribble On The Ol’ Calendar
Check local events, and make a calendar of free events in your town before the summer starts. Many cities and towns offer free movie nights, music in the park, festivals and fairs for free. If you plan accordingly, you will most probably fill an entire calendar with events for each week practically free of charge. Surf the internet for tickets and promos to adventures that require entrance too – there’s a whole slew of deals at the touch of a button!
Partake In a Photo Challenge
If you don’t have friends who like photography you can totally do this one on your own – set a theme for each day of the week or one for each week alone and make a point of snapping beautiful photos according to the theme presented. You can use your cell phone and add filters to upload to Instagram or go retro with a handheld camera – the choice is yours. At the end of it all, you will have a gorgeous collage of photos depicting your summer.
Give Your Space A Makeover
Go antiquing or to a local second-hand store to scavenge for cool finds. Take them home and re-purpose with a little spray paint or TLC to give your home or backyard a new vibe. This adventure can be especially fun when done with a friend. Perhaps find something for each of you and surprise each-other with a newly refurbished home item.
Antique Bed converted into a bench seat and toy box. Barbara and I found this old princess looking bed and decided to convert it. I called Sean over and we reworked the idea, and built it out. Then Barbara and I primed and painted. When complete, we placed it in a garage where we had recently done about two weeks of work for some new owners before they moved in. They had a little girl called Scarlet about 3 who just loved it. #reuserecyclerepurpose #craftsmanship #antiques #periodcraftsmen #princessbed #toybox #benchseat
This one is obvious, especially in the Summer months but a lot of us don’t actually do it. If you are an amateur – you may want to stick to your own backyard for this. Camping close to home can have its benefits, think clean showers and bathrooms to start. Get outside and star gaze, eat s’mores and camp like the true outdoors intended.
When was the last time you wrote someone a letter? Get out the beautiful stationary, some ink and write away! No doubt the person on the receiving end of your letter will appreciate it, you can even use some outdoor finds to incorporate for a summer written note that is sent with love.
Throwback to this pretty pile. Being at Nowhere is amazing so far! Would you like to see more about it in my stories? . . . . . . #writing#mail#snailmail#happymail#letters#calligraphy#stamp#penpal#collage#paper#handmade#art#craft#washitape#postcard#envelope#vintage#stationary#Paris#France#photography#mailbox#penpalling#snailmailrevival#envelopeart#papercraft#analogue #nowherefestival
Throw a Game Night
Invite a bunch of friends over to your place for a game night! Perhaps the invitation can state that everyone has to bring a snack and game – it will be a fun night of competition, laughs and snacks no doubt.
Get Lost In a Book
Head to your local library and find an adventurous book to read. Lay outside on a hammock or your balcony and fully enjoy the art reading. A good book can take you on an adventure without actually having to leave your home – the best and cheapest kind!
