With the end of summer in sight that means one thing, the CNE is coming to town! Even though we dread the end of the summer, there is one thing that Torontonians alike look forward to enjoying and that is a day of fun at the annual CNE, in town from Aug 17- Sept 3. This year is no exception to the new and exciting food vendors, games, shows, rides and exhibits along with the oldies but goodies like the annual Air Show and the Ferris Wheel. All of which are a must see and do this year!
This year, the CNE will be home to the new Legends of the Silk Road Come to Light exhibit. The exhibit is in celebration of the year of Canada-China tourism, the CNE enlisted 90 artists to create seventeen illuminated synthetic silk lanterns. These lanterns will create a luminous kaleidoscope of colour bringing the CNE to light in a new dramatic way! The exhibit is BRAND NEW this year so here are some fun facts to help you navigate your way through the new exhibit, cue the Instagram worthy photos now!
There are 55 metres of steel is used in the construction of the lanterns!
There are over 4,000 metres of synthetic silk that is utilized in the lanterns!
It takes 60 days to construct the lanterns!
It takes 60 days to travel from China to the CNE!
