Every month Annabelle and Melinda sit around the office talking about what they got in their Ipsy bags – so we thought why not share it with everyone else! Here’s what we loved, hated, and can’t wait to try again!
Melinda Annabelle
Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in the shade Calypso. This is my first product from Colourpop and I’m already a big fan. This mid-tone pink hue came out darker than what appeared to be in the tube, but I still love the colour (Dark & Dusty Rose is how I would describe it). I always gravitate towards highly pigmented lip colours and this one has a lovely satin-matte finish to it. When compared to the liquid lipsticks I’ve tried before, this product locks in a lot more moisture and doesn’t give my lips that crusty, flaky look that I usually encounter. Will definitely be buying this again and I know I’ll feel great about the affordable price!

Manna Kadar HD Perfecting Powder I received a similar product last month with the IT Cosmetics HD powder and I wasn’t that impressed with it, so I was a little hesitant to use this one. Although they say white powders blend into the skin, I have found they make me paler – and I didn’t think that was possible. Thankfully this one isn’t a bright white one, it has more of an off-white/yellow undertone to it. On my skin it wasn’t bad, but I am still not sold on white HD powders – and after about 30 mins I found my skin got a little bit itchy, so this one I will probably give away.

Colourpop Pressed Eye Shadow in the shade Come and Get it. This is my first eyeshadow from the brand and I am so impressed. This shadow is a gorgeous golden peachy rose and it is totally a “me” colour. The shadow is very soft and vibrant and blended out well for me. It looks fantastic with NYX’s Bad Seed and Matt Kumar from The Balm; and you can’t go wrong with Colourpop’s price point.

MAC Prep and Prime YES! I’m so happy this was in my Glam Bag. I’ve had my eye on this one because it’s specifically beneficial to people with oily and combination skin- and my skin is a combo like no other (smh)… It does so much more than prime your skin for makeup- it’s rich in natural ingredients, and contains Vitamin C and E and caffeine to calm your skin. I felt that the texture was a lot lighter than most primers I’ve used before and I noticed a nice glow to my skin. This is probably since I got the Radiant Yellow shade for deeper skin tones. If you have fair skin, you should go for the Radiant Pink to get the right effect.

Soroci Morning Calming Cream I was so excited to see that I was getting a skincare item in this month’s bag and the little jar is so cute. Unfortunately, after reading the ingredients I noticed there is egg in it and well, that is one thing I am very allergic to so this product is going to be given away. Maybe Melinda and I will play tradsies?!

Bad Baby Dry Shampoo Pen This is my new winter life saver! No one wants to lug around a full size dry shampoo in their bag all day. This convenience-sized item is what you actually need. Even though I round brush my hair almost every morning for lift, it usually falls flat and lifeless by noon. I’ve been spraying my roots and a little bit all over the hair (just a tad!) and I get a fuller, and more polished look. It’s really helping me extend time in-between washes and I love the fragrance which is light and fresh. Bad Baby, you are bringing my hair back from the dead this winter!

SLMISSGLAM Tapered Highlight Brush Who doesn’t love getting a good brush and in such a pretty colour?! This is the perfect shape and size for powder highlight, it would probably even work well for powder under the eye or maybe a light cheek contour. The brand (which I can not pronounce for the life of me) doesn’t sell their brushes individually, so it is a nice way to try the brand out without having to buy the whole set.

Crown Small Chisel Blush Brush Nothing like getting a fresh brush to add to my collection! I don’t have anything revolutionary to say about this one but it does apply my blush and highlighter pretty well. Although I appreciate the grooves on the side for easy gripping and the studio aesthetic, I would’ve been more excited if the brush looked prettier. Ahem! Can we trade Annabelle???

Advanced Real Moisture Liquid Foundation I love getting foundations in my Ipsy bag. I rarely branch out from my tried and true, so getting any opportunity to try new foundations out is always exciting; I am still waiting for that holy grail foundation that gives me the flawless complexion like an Instagram filter. This colour wasn’t too bad on me, a little more yellow than my usual shades, I am more of a neutral undertone. I would call it a medium coverage and it is buildable. Will definitely continue to test it out.

Naked Cosmetics Loose Pigment Shadow in the Shade Mother Nature 6. Oooh Baby- I liked this pigment a lot! For one thing, you don’t need much of it, especially if you have a lid primer on underneath. Another thing is that you don’t need to blend it with 2 other colours to create sultry, sexy eyes- it’s perfect on its own! Take note that this product appears to be brown, but it actually has shimmers of green and purple in the mix, making it versatile for almost every skin tone and look. You’re going to love it.
