My fave this week had to be when Two Oceans paid a surprise visit to our office with a gift basket and a great looking male model 😉 . It was seriously the best way to celebrate the new season of The Bachelor Canada and included the perfect items for viewing. Rose chocolates, shatter proof wine cups, tissue, an uber cute emoji pillow, a mood ring and of course a bottle of Two Oceans Wine – seriously how much more prepared for a viewing can you get? I’ll be using all these items every Wednesday at 9pm – although my chocolates and wine will probably be gone within the first 20 minutes :p
This week we lost a beloved Canadian icon – Gord Downie from The Tragically Hip. We all knew the day would come but no one wanted to believe it. They were Canada’s band and the soundtrack to my summers at the cottage. I was fortunate enough to see them perform in a small bar in Dallas, Texas. 30 strangers and I lost our minds waving Canadian flags, jumping up and down and singing along while our American friends stared and asked “wtf” is going on. It was a once in a lifetime event.
Gord Downie was a singer, a poet, an author, a champion for the environment, a supporter for the indigenous community, a father, a husband and so much more. His songs explore heavy topics and celebrate our Canadian identity.
If you have never seen them perform CTV will be airing The Tragically Hip, Long Time Running this Friday, October 20 at 8pm ET/PT
My fave this week is NYX’s matte lipstick in the shade Whipped Caviar because who doesn’t love a versatile matte lipstick? This shade is perfect for the fall because it’s a neutral pink with a beautiful matte finish. It is rich and smooth to apply and never feels dry, leaving your lips moisturized and happy. NYX’s matte lipsticks are $6 and come in 34 different shades with lovely neutrals to bold pops of colour. If you are looking for an easy-to-apply and pigment rich lip in tons of different shades, this is it.
I’m loving Gabrielle Union’s new book “We’re Going To Need More Wine“. I have loved her as an actress ever since Bring It On (I mean who hasn’t). I have followed her career and am addicted to her show Being Mary Jane. Her new book is a candid look of her life and I cannot wait to start reading it! It just came out this Tuesday so be sure to get your hands on one.
I recently treated myself to an Opening Ceremony Dip Dye Crewneck Sweater and I’m in love! This retailer works with a ton of designers across the globe and have a killer in-house clothing brand. Last time I visited their website, they had some really great pieces with Reebok and Kappa worth checking out. With store locations in New York, Los Angeles and Tokyo, Opening Ceremony is constantly showcasing lesser-known domestic and international clothing brands that are totally creative and bring art to retail like I’ve never seen before. Their stuff is a bit pricey but totally worth it!
