My Friday Fave will not come to any surprise to those who know me – but I’m obsessed with Olympian Mark McMorris. This week he won a bronze medal for Canada in Snowboarding. Now – you might say, bronze? Why would I be obsessed with someone who didn’t even win gold? WELL, Mark suffered from a terrible accident just less than a year ago, and still had the will and determination to come back to the sport AND win a medal. He is so down to earth and hilarious and an all around Canadian role model – and let’s just say I have a major crush on this cutie 😉 Go Team Canada!

Leandra:
Now, I love a good book, so when the office recently received some reads from Penguin Random House Publishing, I immediately started reading the new novel by best selling author Mary Beard, Women & Power. This brave little book explores the minds of misogynists and trolls who attack and demean women all over the world as well as the origins of misogyny and its ancient roots. Mary examines the pitfalls of gender and the ways that history has mistreated strong women since the beginning of time. This book is an excitable and powerful read that you won’t want to put down if you are passionate about the history of gender. I recommend it to anyone who is interested in women’s issues, wants to shake up their views a bit and loves to challenge themselves!

My Friday Fave this week is Marc Anthony Grow Long Caffeine Ginseng Rapid Grow Leave In Spray. The ultra-light weight spray hydrates dry, brittle hair with a formula with ingredients such as caffeine, ginseng and vitamin E to restore strength and promote healthy hair growth. I love this product because it is easy to use, smells great and I have noticed a difference in the strength of my hair in just a couple weeks! It combats split ends and breakage as well as makes your hair look and feel a lot stronger.

My Friday fave this week is Sibling Rivalry’s White VQA Wine. It is a great, cheap VQA white that has aromas of citrus, apple, pear and peach with floral notes and a bit of spice on the end. It is easy to drink and mixes well in spritzers and sangrias. It is only $11.95 at the LCBO, and the bottle and label are cute. Perfect for yourself or a gift to a friend who loves Ontario Grown Wine! Red option also available.

Lisa Eldridge, my favourite makeup artist and creative director extrodainaire, put out a book a couple of years ago on the “story of makeup” . Everyone knows I am slightly obsessed with all things makeup and beauty. I am also fascinated with it’s history. At one point in time it was considered to be only worn by prostitutes and some places had a ban on it all together. Apparently in Kansas it was illegal to wear under the age of 44. To read about it’s evolution and perceptions over time is fascinating to me and the pictures of the vintage packaging are stunning. I haven’t put this book down since I got it and if you love makeup as much as I do or knows someone who does this is a great gift.
