Summer is heating up, hangouts are happening and naturally, everyone’s enjoying their favourite boozy refreshments to cool everything down.
I fell in love with a new summer cider. It brings the taste of the Kelowna BC countryside right to your back deck. I’m not even kidding. I fell hard for this Broken Ladder Rosé Cider. It’s the latest addition to the Broken Ladder cider family and in my opinion, it’s the best!
Broken Ladder craft ciders have been around since 2014 by BC Tree Fruits Cider Co., a collective of 400+ grower families in British Columbia, and they grow some of the finest tree fruits in the world.
Each of their ciders are true to the core- made from handpicked fruit, with no added water or processed sugar. Plus, they’re all naturally gluten-free.
Gluten-free girls rejoice!
Like the other Broken Ladder craft infusions, their Rosé is a premium authentic cider that contains 100% apples and cherries. It’s extremely refreshing and fruit forward with hints of sour cherries and hibiscus flower. I find it light and perfectly sweet, with just the right amount of carbonation. It’s basically an ideal, long-lasting marriage of bubbly rosé and refreshing cider.
And honest-to-goodness, there’s a tasty finish of tart cranberry that I haven’t experienced from a cider before.
I’m in love with it’s beautiful deep pink colour. It looks so refreshing in a glass, it’s just begging to be sipped. I personally like my cider sans-ice (I have sensitive teeth), but a lot of my friends really enjoyed it over a tall glass of cubes. Definitely an upgrade from your typical cider.
So, I’ve decided to take a little vacation from my usual beer or vodka soda and savour this new summer staple. I feel like I can actually savour each sip of the Broken Ladder Rosé Cider and truly enjoy it. Just like summer, I want to drink it all in and savour every moment, ya know!
Now I’m thinking about having these ready on ice at my next BBQ. I think these will go nicely with my famous saucy pork ribs.
Speaking of food, it would pair perfectly with a crisp summer salad too – with sliced apple to kick up the rosé cider’s flavour and compliment the salad’s star ingredient.
Before you get too thirsty, here are a few more reasons why I’m into Broken Ladder Rosé Cider this summer:
- It’s gluten-free. A lot of my friends are gluten-sensitive so if I’m heading to a summer bash, I like to bring something that everyone can enjoy.
- Made from 100% real apples + cherries = hello ANTIOXIDANTS
- Broken Ladder only uses local fruit (so fresh!) and applies traditional methods to crush and ferment. There’s nothing artificial along the way. It’s just straight from the orchard to your glass. You can seriously taste the freshness of the fruit.
- It’s a Canadian cider and an award winner too, taking home the title of Best Cider at this year’s Fest of Ale (so you know it’s damn delicious).
- It tastes as good as it looks…..and it’s pink (we just can’t help ourselves)!
Curious about where to buy Broken Ladder Rosé Cider? You’ll find it in a four-pack (473ml cans) at the BC Liquor Stores (BCLDB), select private liquor stores and grocery locations across BC. If you’re in Alberta, check Liquor Connect.
