I don’t know about you, but I always want to look my best at every holiday party I attend. Christmas, Hanukkah, New Years – it doesn’t matter, I want all eyes to be on me! That means I refuse to re-wear the same show-stopping dress I wore to a party last year – I need trendy and fresh! I mean seriously – who want’s to be photographed in the same outfit twice?!
Instead of breaking the bank each year for the perfect new outfit, this holiday season I decided to try out the Toronto based company Boro. Boro is a peer-to-peer marketplace for women to list, discover, and borrow clothing from the stylish closets of Toronto – focusing on the eco-conscious idea of helping to divert barely used clothing from ending up in landfills. Instead of spending hundreds of dollars on a piece you will only wear once, you can rent brand name clothing and accessories for a fraction of the original price. This is shifting the way we consume – helping us value memories and moments instead of ownership of tangible items. That’s what the holiday spirit is all about, right!?
Check out my favourite holiday pieces from their shop:
1. Back To Black
Black is a classic for any holiday look. This BCBG dress is a show stopper with a beaded and mesh top and an elegant fringe skirt. I paired the look with this perfect gold Coach purse and felt like a million bucks (without actually breaking the bank!). The dress was originally @3GirlsAndOurCloset‘s which I was super excited about because I love their style! I absolutely can not wait to wear this look to my office Christmas party.
2. Pop Of Colour
Of course I HAD to pick a red dress for my second holiday look. Not only is this Betsy & Adam lace dress super festive, but red is HOT this season. I paired the look with a white oversized Helmut Lang blazer (because let’s be real, it’s going to get chilly) and the most perfect vintage Gucci bag. Let’s just say I’ll totally be turning heads in this look.
3. Glam
What’s a New Year’s party without a glam, glitzy look? This Mandalay Navy Sequin number is FLAWLESS and is everything I’ve ever wanted in a holiday look. Plus, aside from it being stunning and fitting like an absolute glove, you can rent this dress for only $75 versus the $695 retail price – what a steal! Paired with a vintage Gucci purse, this outfit is stellar!
Which look is your fave?
P.S you can lend your own forgotten pieces and make money on items that would otherwise be sitting in your closet. Be sure to check them out next time you are struggling to find a budget friendly, designer garment!
