Professor Chandrasekhar is a famous economist, almost at the peak of his career, who begins an emotional dominos downslide following a bicycle accident which had also resulted in a “silent” heart attack. While in forced confinement he analyzes his circumstances and concludes that he failed miserably at life skills.
He had always followed that taught parental mantra which crosses continents, cultures and generations – ensure your children will lives as well or better than yourself. For Professor Chandra the goals were career achievement, having influence and money. But he realizes his life was out of balance with mostly work, a little family involvement, no downtime. Now he is regrettably divorced and estranged from his three adult children.
His health recovery program is the usual meds, diet and exercise with a serious recommendation from his California – Style doctor to “Follow his Bliss”. Not really interested and lost and how to begin he is manipulated into attending a short Zen type retreat by his ex-wife’s partner. The experience starts his journey to fix his mistakes. Here begins the positive theme of HOPE throughout his struggle to shed his protective shield. Professor Chandra is as tenacious as when he was an academic. The challenges he faces and comes to terms with are often heart wrenching, sometimes quite amusing and always uplifting. The realistic ending leaves the reader pondering and truly hoping for his ideal future.
Happy reading!
