As summer turns to fall, transitioning to a cooler weather wardrobe can be disheartening. Although it may make you sad to be reaching for those layering pieces instead of your favourite summer romper, I am back from Italy and ready to get you excited for fall fashion! Having just come back from one of the largest epicentres of fashion in the world, I saw first hand how to effortlessly transition to a fall wardrobe. Now I’m back just in time to spill the beans! The good news - you may not have to put your favourite summer outfits away that quickly! Are you ready?
LAYER YOUR SUMMER OUTFITS & DRESS THEM DOWN WITH CASUAL SHOES

While in Italy, I noticed that a lot of people were layering jackets over summer dresses, adding tights on cooler days, and dressing down their favourite pieces with combat boots, classic platform Vans, or even old school Dr. Martins (and with cobblestone streets who would want to wear heels anyways). Effortless transition doesn’t mean you have to buy a whole new wardrobe. Instead, keep the floral print dresses and rompers, add some layers for warmth (like your favourite jean jacket), and dress them down with casual shoes for fall!
CHECKERED, PLAID, STRIPES AND TARTAN - IT ALL GOES!
Another huge trend that not only appeared on the streets of Italy, but also all over the runways, is checkered, plaid, stripes and tartan prints! No matter what your personal sense of style is, there is always a way to incorporate this trend into your fall wardrobe — and if you ask me, grey plaid is the new gingham.
WINTER CULOTTES ARE NOT ONLY CHIC. THEY’RE FLATTERING!
Wide leg pants and culottes are still very popular this fall. Thank god, because they are the most comfortable and flattering pant silhouette that works for just about every body type! Am I right!? Plaid, stripes and solid colour culottes is a trend that is here to stay. Pair them with patent boots or your favourite sneaker for the perfect casual daytime look.

PEDAL TO THE METAL WITH METALLIC FABRICS!
Last, but definitely not least, metallic fabrics are in this fall and I am in love! I’m going to be going all out with pleated skirts and metallic sweaters! However, if you’re a little bit timid to go all out, you can subtly rock the trend with accessories.
Although these aren’t the only trends popular this fall, I definitely learned a couple things about transitioning your summer wardrobe to fall, thanks to Italy’s street style. The best part is: I already have some of these items/silhouettes in my closet, so I’m not forced to break the bank just to keep up! If you have any questions or comments about Italy’s street style and Fall/Winter fashion, I’d love to hear from you. You can always contact me at [email protected] ! If you are planning a trip to Italy, looking for travel guides, need recommendations or want more information on my trip , I will be posting an article in the next couple weeks on my website at www.SoheilaOnline.com!
Until next time, Ciao! Arrivederci!!!
