*I want to preface this article by saying that every body type is beautiful, but finding clothes that fit and accentuate your shape will give you that little bit of extra confidence and make you the fiercest you can be!*
Clothes may look one way on a mannequin or on a hanger, but they may not look the same on you when you try them on in the fitting room. We all come in different shapes and sizes and it’s always important to remember this before bringing anything to the cash register.
The first thing I do is make sure that I dress for my body type, and the second thing I look at is if the proportions work. Ensuring that your outfit is balanced is often something many people overlook.
Today I will be sharing my top tips to always look your best:
1. Get Tailored
My number one tip is to invest in a good tailor. Making sure your clothes fit is essential. No one looks great or makes a good first impression in frumpy clothes. The correct fit can make the difference between looking 5 -10 pounds lighter or heavier.
2. Choose smaller prints
The bottom line is that bigger prints make you look bigger. Smaller prints help distract the eye from areas you may not want to accentuate as much. Plus this pattern is always on trend so it will be an investment in your wardrobe.
3. Monochrome
I am not big on colour blocking and I will always choose to wear one colour from head to toe. It’s chic, easy and trust me you will look great. Wearing all black from head to toe is always slimming and flattering.
4. The higher the heel
If you are in the market to look a little taller and slimmer, then put your money towards a great nude heel. But, be sure to stay away from anything with an ankle strap – it will cut your leg horizontally making it look shorter. A nude pointed heel will elongate and lean out your whole figure.

5. High Rise > Low Rise

Did these tips help? Be sure that when shopping for clothes to remember, pick what works best for you. Trends come and go, but classic pieces that are flattering on your body will always be in style.
