Winter is on its way which means that cozy sweaters and hot chocolate are too! I’d love nothing more than to hibernate indoors all season with a warm drink, snacks and Netflix. But, reality sets in and I’ve got friends and family to see and events to go to, so, I have to brave the cold!

Cold, winter weather takes its toll on our skin, our hair and even our favourite accessories. The lack of moisture in the air does our skin no favours and the combination of snow and salt from the roads eat away at our favourite leather boots. The winter conditions almost always play a factor in determining whether I debut a new piece or not. Have no fear though — through my own personal experience I have found some tips that will keep your bags and boots looking fresh all season long!
1. Wax
This is great because it will seal out moisture, protecting your bag and your boots. The DIY version involved using an unscented candle and a blow dryer. Using the blow dryer to warm up the wax, rub a thin unnoticeable layer onto your boots. If you do not have the patience for that, you can find an all natural leather conditioner that will do the exact same thing: protect, treat and weatherproof your precious accessories.

2. Spray It
Sprays are great because they are quick, easy to use and they provide a gentle waterproofing solution for your items. Just be sure to choose one that is light so it won’t change the colour of your bag or one that requires you to constantly reapply.
3. When it doubt, rotate it out
I found that the best way to keep your pieces in tip top shape is to rotate them out as frequently as possible. Think of it as an excuse to purchase more pretty accessories and bags, ladies!

4. Boot Rescue
This is an item I recently discovered while shopping for a friend. These are great because they are wipes that conveniently remove everything from salt, dirt and mud off your shoes or bags. They are all natural without any harsh chemicals that can harm your boots, bags or skin. They are portable and fit in your purse so you are always ready to go.
