What Makes You The Best You?
Rachel Harrower
Attitude is everything. I am my best self when I am positive and open to new experiences. Going outside of my comfort zone can be completely terrifying, but I know that pushing past that fear and staying hopeful allows me to reach my full potential.
I’ve learned a lot about myself and how I react to new experiences through travel. When I was 21, I travelled from Canada to Scotland with my best friend. Neither of us had been this far from home before and I was nervous. However, I had always dreamed of travelling to this beautiful place and I wasn’t going to let my nerves stop me from having an amazing time. My attitude allowed me to explore my new surroundings to the fullest and I even surprised myself by venturing out on my own a few times. This experience allowed me to grow as a person and taught me not to underestimate myself.
Travel has become one of my greatest loves as a result of this trip. I find that being in a new place (especially one with a language barrier) pushes me outside of my comfort zone and allows me to be the best that I can be. Each time I visit a new place, I gain more confidence and a greater understanding of myself.
