In the work environment, your boss expects their employees to feel passionate about what they are doing. When you’re an entrepreneur, chances are, you’re already doing something you love. No business can survive without a commitment and the will to achieve greatness from their workers. Most business owners have a personal investment and want nothing but success. Eight years ago, I took a risk and started a blog. Never in a million years would I have thought it would be my full-time job. I now do whatever it takes to excel, even if that means working long hours, taking bold risks and going above and beyond the call of duty.
If you’re new to working for yourself, or even if you’ve been doing it for many years and just need some motivation, here are some tips and tricks to keep going and succeed!
Reward Yourself
Since I’m fully committed to the blog, I reward myself as much as I can. Since I don’t have a boss to praise me, I make sure to see the good in everything I do. Not every day is sunshine and rainbows, but I direct my attention on the positive in every situation. I try to focus on the solutions, and not the problems. By making a mental note of not allowing negative thoughts to enter my mind, I can spend more time growing my brand and looking towards the future. I respect and value my opinions and try not to second guess myself too much.
Ignite Your Passion
Being passionate about what you do is the first step in achieving greatness. Any good blog starts with a passion. Find something you love and everything else will happen. Desire and hunger is the fuel that ignites the desire to work harder, and the harder you work, the greater the rewards. A strong business cannot succeed without hard work, ambition, and enthusiasm. The harder you work and the more excitement you have about what you’re doing, the larger the payoff.
Take Risks
I took my fear of not being good enough and turned that into motivation to succeed. Although I’m faced with the risk of failure almost daily, I try not to let it affect my hopes and dreams. Like most jobs, if you’re afraid to take a chance, you might just lose out on an amazing opportunity. Take that terror, panic and anxiety and turn it into achieving greatness.
Work Hard
They say working hard is the key to success, and I couldn’t agree more. Although the life of a blogger is much more than just snapping pretty photos and sharing them on social media, I love a good challenge. I trust that the harder I work, the greater the rewards. I try to focus on my daily goals and know, that it will all pay off in the end. Every day I ask myself, “what’s next”. By setting daily goals, I allow myself the power to accomplish anything. I want to feel satisfied in my work and knowing that I’m making a small difference in the world.
Consistency Is Key
They say you don’t always need to win the race to feel like a winner, and this is the same with business. The last man standing is the real winner. Many people think that life of a blogger is easy, or that I built my brand overnight. There’s no “quick” way to success, it takes time and patience. Being consistent with content is key. I’m committed to putting out a minimum of 5 blog posts a week to stay current and relevant.
Find Balance
Finally, it’s extremely important to find balance. I struggled with this one for a long time. You would think working from home would be easy, but for years, I found myself working at all hours of the day. I now delegate each hour to certain tasks and try to finish my day by 6PM. The moments when I thought I could do it all and work 15 hours a day, are the moments I failed. It’s crucial to take time for yourself, no matter how committed you are to your work.
